Next Test Subjects (02/10/2025)

Overview of Tests: My goal for this test is to load arrows with a consistent amount of in-shaft weight allowing me to vary point / broad head weight as needed and available. My concept not yet put into practice is to accommodate between 100 – 150 gn of point weight and still be consistent within an acceptable degree.

Previous test I just flung arrows at 100 Gn of in-shaft weight and 150 gn of point weight. Taking my pro shop’s word at not getting “Pigeon holed,” into a few broadhead choices having most of my weight in-shaft while point weight makes up a difference may keep more options open.

Based on calculations, if I should take them into account, cutting test arrows to 28″ would leave me in a better situation at 100 gn point weight. This would leave me with little room for Turkey broadheads and I maybe forced to shoot just traditional broadheads.

Most definitely will give this a try

Maybe if above flies consistently and slightly nock left, i may opt for this approach (NOT APPROACHED; IGNORE)

Testing Results

In retrospective, Arrows with above point weights and 175gn inserts flew nearly excellent. I admit it maybe because of my release that i did not get consistent releases and contributing to my overall success in shaft tuning. I did not cut my arrows to 28″.

I feel as though I should opt for 100gn points and 175 gn inserts.

Final Conclusion for 2025

I have decided to stay with a 350 spline arrow from Black Eagle Archery in their Vintage line. With a 100 gn insert and 75gn add-on weight, I can accommodate point weights between 100-150 without any issues.
